The Clerk’s Office of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey is hiring a full-time Audiovisual/Information Technology Technician within the IT department. The role primarily provides AV and courtroom technology support, plus backup technical/helpdesk support for end users at the Newark courthouse. Manual labor is required, and travel to other divisional offices may be needed depending on Court needs.
Systems knowledge: digital audio signal processors, control processors, video distribution, wireless/infrared audio, teleconferencing and video conferencing equipment.
Videography (recording, streaming via media server, editing) is a plus. The Court also values former government or federal-judiciary work experience, strong written/verbal communication with non-technical users, and the ability to travel with reliable transportation. Physical requirement: moving and lifting weights commensurate with AV equipment.
Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S. A background investigation (fingerprints, criminal record check) is required; hiring is provisional pending a favorable suitability determination. Judiciary employees serve under excepted, at-will appointments.
The posting names AVIXA’s Certified Technology Specialist (CTS®) certification directly, alongside Crestron, Extron, Biamp, and core networking fundamentals. Hour House built a 16-week course through the CTS body of knowledge — signals, audio, video, networks, control systems, site survey, AV design, integration, operations, and troubleshooting — mapped to exactly these requirements.
