φ satisfies: φ = 1 + 1/φ. It is the number that remains proportionally invariant when you invert your perspective on it. The Golden Rule is the social instance of the same operation — invert subject and object, the essential relationship is preserved. Both φ and the Golden Rule are fixed points under perspective inversion. This is not a metaphor. It is the same mathematical structure appearing in geometry and in ethics because both are descriptions of how self-referential systems optimise themselves.
