Five accepted presentations at the XII Bienal da SBM in Natal, RN — 20 km from the Cajueiro de Pirangi (8,500 m², the largest cashew tree on Earth). Travel costs are not covered. Not through NYFA.
GoFundMe →The Cajueiro de Pirangi is one organism. A single root system beneath 8,500 square meters of canopy. From the outside it looks like a forest. It is not a forest. It is one tree that learned to grow sideways.
The Cajueiro Principle — the organizing idea behind all of this — is that the most important structures in any living system are built underground, in silence, before anyone arrives to watch. The workshops are built around that idea.
They are free because they need to be free. The target community is the immigrant corridor of Newark and Elizabeth — researchers, practitioners, and anyone for whom the roots of their work are not yet visible.

Every ancient healing tradition understood something that modern architecture forgot: sound behaves differently underground. The Hypogeum of Ħal Saflieni in Malta — carved 5,000 years ago — resonates at 111 Hz. Brain activity shifts at that frequency. The nervous system slows. Something opens.
We are working toward a dedicated therapeutic soundworks space in Newark — a hypogeum in the original sense: a room designed for sound, for the body, for stillness. Not a concert hall. Not a studio. A threshold space, where mathematics and breath occupy the same room.
The soundworks already exist. The 24/7 stream running now is a proof of concept — contact geometry rendered as audio, the Reeb helix as a standing wave, the n-bonacci ladder as a tuning system. What is missing is the room.
The workshops are the first step. Five sessions in a borrowed room, proving the model — that mathematical soundworks land differently when people are in the same space, when the walk happens before the listening, when the bilingual frame holds the room in two languages at once.
The longer vision is a permanent home: a sound therapy and research space in the Newark–Elizabeth corridor, serving immigrant communities, researchers, practitioners, and anyone for whom the body is the first instrument and the room is the second. Tax-deductible through NYFA. Built from the ground up, the way the cajueiro builds — underground first, for years, before the canopy appears.
